What happens to your photos
What happens to my photos, and how long do you keep them?
We use your photos only to make your book: to paint the people in it and get their likeness right. We never use your photos or your stories to train AI, and we never sell them.
A few companies help us make your book, for example to paint the pictures, store them and print the book. Some of them are outside the EU, for example in the US or in Singapore. Where your data leaves the EU, it is protected by the safeguards that EU data protection law requires. Your photos are not sent to China. Section 4 of our privacy policy names every company and where it is.
We delete your photos, the paintings and the personal details in your book automatically. This happens a set time after you order the printed book, or a set time after your book was made if you never order it. Section 6 of our privacy policy gives the exact times. After that, the link to your book stops working. We keep the record of your order and its invoice for longer, because tax law requires it.
We don't keep a download of your uploaded photos for you, so please keep your own copies. If you want a copy of the data we have stored about you, including your photos while we still have them, write to us at hello@memolio.io. Section 8 of our privacy policy lists all your rights.
